Thus said Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla in an apparent unguarded moment when asked by PEP if she were in favor of scrapping the so-called Pork Barrel, or Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
In an obvious attempt to explain, she followed up with this:
“Hindi naman puwede yung sa pinaghihirapan namin dahil sa personal naman namin yun, sa mga anak, sa mga pang-araw-araw na panggastos namin."
That one-liner is simple and obvious to mean. It is better left to the reader to say what it is.
It would mean that there must be PDAF if one congressman's people in his constituency always ask donations here, there, everywhere and all the time.
These she stated in the heels of reports that her husband, Senator Bong Revilla Jr., has been said to be one of the senators tapping the controversial Janet Lim-Napoles, now at-large while being tagged as the manipulator of P10 billion released through lawmakers' discretionary funds.
The other senators who were reported to have used Napoles for the releases of their PDAF are Bongbong Marcos, Jinggoy Estrada, Juian Ponce Enrile and Gringo Honasan.
Speaking of Honasan, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in 1972 along with fellow senator Panfilo Lacson, their fellow alumni have sounded of a clarion call against Pork Barrel Funds or PDAF.
PMA cavaliers speak of disgust to pork, want it stopped, demand punishment. They expressed their sentiments through a manifesto entitled "AN EXPRESSION OF PUBLIC DISGUST AND A CALL FOR ACTION."
Here is the Cavaliers' Clarion Call:
