Stand up, don’t blame others!

It all depends on you if you want freedom or death. There are only two choices: freedom and death. Lack of freedom is in itself death, for what is life without freedom?

Ikaw ba ay tinatapakan?

Alma, huwag manisi sa iba!

Nasa kamay mo kung gusto mo ng kalayaan o kamatayan.  Dalawa lang ang pagpilian: kalayaan at kamatayan.  Ang kawalan ng kalayaan ay kamatayan din.  Bakit, ano ba ang buhay kung walang kalayaan?

Does fear shut your mouth from expressing your inner sentiments or tie your hands from writing the passion of your heart and mind?

Stand up, don’t’ blame others!

It all depends on you if you want freedom to speak or write. Again, there are only two choices: freedom and death.  For what is life if you cannot speak or write?

Takot ba ang pumipigil sa iyong bibig sa pagpahayag ng iyong saloobin o sa iyong kamay para isulat ang marubdub na damdamin ng iyong puso at isip?

Alma, huwag manisi sa iba!

Nasa iyo yan kung gusto mo magsalita o  sumulat.  Ulit, dalawa lang ang pagpilian: kalayaan at kamatayan.  Ano ba ang buhay kung di ka makapagsalita o di makapagsulat?

Freedom is directly proportional to the amount of courage to fight for it. 

Ang antas ng kalayaan ay direktang may relasyon sa antas ng tapang para ipaglaban ang kalayaan.

If you love freedom and think you already have enough courage, join us in this crusade. Let us be one. Let us build a movement. Let us put in the Congress the true representatives who will fight for the institution of laws to erect a citadel of freedom to express. 

Kung iniibig mo ang kalayaan at sa isip mo ay may sapat kang lakas ng loob na ipaglaban ang kalayaan, sumapi sa krusadang ito.  Mag-isa tayo. Itayo natin ang galaw.  Iluklok sa Kongreso ang tunay na representante na lalaban para sa pagpapatibay ng mga batas na magtatayo ng isang palasyo ng kalayaan ng pagpapahayag.

On December 16, 2011, I spoke during the induction of the first set of officers of Caraga Region Tri-Media Practitioners Assocation, Inc. (CARTRIPA), led by its first president, Jun Parada.

The affair was held at the convention hall of the Province of Surigao del Norte within the compound of the Provincial Capitol of Surigao del Norte in Surigao City.

Inspired by National Press Club president Jerry S. Yap, I SPOKE ON PRESS FREEDOM, THE NEED TO KEEP IT INDEPENDENT AND STRONG, AND THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS IS FOR ALL MEDIA PERSONS TO FORM A PARTY-LIST GROUP.

I am proposing the group to be named "ALMA"-- Alab ng Mamamahayag. 

If the media has three representatives in the Congress, it can now push for the passage of laws revoking libel as a crime, instituting true Freedom of Information Law and not the one currently proposed, creating an independent network of TV, Radio and Community Papers, creating a separate and independent body called “Bureau on Assaults Against Media” with exclusive powers of detecting, investigating and prosecuting assaults, opposing right of reply bills, and institution of the People’s Justice System (Jury System) to give effective security to the liberty of the press, and other laws material or relevant to promote independence of the media.

The proposed TV and Radio network shall be fully funded by the government. But it shall be fully controlled by all media men all over the country to ensure an insurmountable citadel of independence.  Its purpose of existence shall be to establish a well-entrenched system of exposing graft practices, corruption and abuses by the government and its men.

The directors and all other officials of the Media Network must be rotated each year among all provincial, city and national media organizations where the desire of these groups to join the national pool is a matter of right that cannot be denied once an application for membership is filed, with a requirement that there shall be one group from each city or province.

If it is noticed that the representation is NOT by individuals but by groups and that only provincial and city corps are included.  This is to ensure strong press in remote areas where killing mediamen mostly occur and promote strong transparency in local governance, which transparency tags along with efficient systems of leadership and system of elections in rural areas.

We hope we will succeed in this.
