WHERE IS JUSTICE IN SAN PABLO CITY?

WHERE IS JUSTICE IN SAN PABLO CITY?

Mike Jayson "Boss Mike" Calanasan
Alab ng Mamamahayag (ALAM) is now crying for justice for its member in San Pablo City because the police there are not doing anything to resolve his murder.

This was learned by ALAM president Berteni "Toto" Cataluña Causing when he visited his member's wake in Sta. Monica, San Pablo City in the evening of April 26, 2012.

ALAM president Causing also learned that this ALAM member, MICHAEL JAYSON "BOS MIKE" CALANASAN, appeared to have been killed by a hired killer in the manner the same as what happened to newsmen Sonny Alcantara and Dante Liwag and in the place where these persons were killed.

"All was finished in one bullet to the head," Causing noted.

During the first part of the interviews done by Causing, it showed that Mike was a man his wife and mother claimed to have no known enemies. This caused them to say they cannot believe that a good man like Mike was killed by a man in a manner that appeared to have been accomplished by a hired gun.

"Bos Mike" as he is fondly called was a writer at a family-owned community newspaper and was working at the same time as an employee of a traffic division of San Pablo City.

While he was alive, he wrote his articles about jokes in his column and he was a very strict but helpful traffic officer.

Mike's wife Rosemarie recalled that at 7:45 a.m. of April 24, 2012, she and Mike were riding their motorcycle for him to bring her to her work at Municipal Trial Court in Cities of San Pablo City, where she works as a stenographer.

She recalled that a motorcycle appeared on their left with a pair on it.  When the motorbike came abreast with the husband-and-wife tandem as the victim was slowing down on a crossing.

She said that one of the two in the overtaking motorcycle called out: "Bos Mike."

She said that when her husband responded by turning his head to the left, the sound of a "bang" burst from a .45 pistol, shocking the many people in that busy morning of that intersection of San Pablo City.

Slowly thereafter, the motorcycle being driven by Mike fell off to the left.

A witness said that while the killer's motorcycle was speeding off, the bull cap of the back-rider, the shooter, fell off his head but the killer manage to catch the cap and returned it on his head. However, they noticed that the killer's long hair fell down exposing that the killer looked like a woman.

It was the 11th contract killing in the city, and the fourth in that particular spot where the fourth one was said to be a school bus driver.

What dumbfounded the wife and Melinda, the mother of Mike, is that until today the police have not done any investigation, as if they are not interested.

ALAM president Jerry S. Yap sent ALAM president Causing to look after the case of Mike.

Due to the very apparent disinterest on the part of the city police, ALAM president suggested to the wife and the mother that after the burial, a case will be filed before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and ALAM will demand justice from the political and police leaders of San Pablo and Laguna.

Calanasan is the 13th mediaman killed under the administration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
